Kairi's Idea

So my day starts out completely normal, wandering around with nothing really to do. So, I end up with a ragtag group who decide that they're going to clear out a Pirate's hideout. Meh, let's go, I guess. The Pirates didn't stand a chance, and were wiped out in a short time. As we crawled from the underground tunnels, someone suggested that we hit another nearby hideout. I sat and waited, and no one was moving after 10 minutes, so I left. As I was paddling towards the beach, I see Kairi, who tells me of this wonderful idea she has. "You're going on a blind date." she says. Puzzled, I wanted to know more. Like a good blind date setter-upper, she refused to divulge any more information. So, I went walking around some more.

Eventually I wandered across the French Beach, where Kairi, ArchAngel, and a lovely Lady were sitting around, talking. Making sure I wasn't intruding, I sat down in the sand, and just listened. After a few moments, it seemed that they had a secret for the Lady, too. They wouldn't tell the Lady their secret, so she used me as a hostage. She had summoned a skeletal jay-bird, who, after it's Lady was angered, found perch upon my head. The Lady threatned he would do 'his business' upon my head if they didn't tell. After much begging on my part to Kairi, Kairi told the Lady that she was setting her up for a blind date with...yours truly. I was shocked. I did not expect that. The Lady was quick to let Kairi know that she wasn't interested in me, and Kairi almost gave up. However, the Lady thought about it for a second, and, I guess she decided it could be fun. We all parted ways and were to meet at the Jolly Beggar.

I arrived at the Jolly Beggar first, (I've never been one to spruce myself up much), followed by ArchAngel. He looked spiffy in his Tuxedo, and I felt a little out of place...Kairi arrived next, and she explained that my date was to be a bit late. She was only a few minutes late, and after she arrived, ArchAngel led us to Paris, to a nice little cafe. We ordered our coffee, which the Lady seemed to like more than anyone else, and then we placed out dinner orders. ArchAngel and I gave our dates our presents. I had a baguette to start, followed by a plate of something I can't pronounce. At some point, my date handed me a slice of something, saying "Try it!". The food was okay, a little fancy for me, but nevertheless good. (Besides, ArchAngel flipped the tab)

After the food, ArchAngel invited Kairi for a dance. My date and I watched as they swept around the room, doing loops, circles, and all sorts of things. I didn't think ArchAngel would be a good dancer. Guess that teaches me to judge people. After one of their dances slowed to a stop, Kairi walked over to the table. "Why aren't you two dancing?" she asked, pointing at my date and I. All I could do was stutter a little and look away. "Because he hasn't asked me!" replied my date. So, I asked. Bracing for sheer embarassment, we rose, and walked to the center of the floor.

At first, it was a slow awkward movement, which my date quickly noticed, pointed out, and helped to correct. "Just go with the flow." she said. A few seconds later, and a few deft movements of my date's feet to avoid my stomping, we were dancing semi-normally. I even managed to pull off a spin move, although, ArchAngel was better than I. Meh, something to work towards, I guess. Well, after the dance, the date was concluded. It seemed that everyone, including my date, had fun. We all went back to the Jolly Beggar, where I went upstairs to a warm bed.

Wait, wait wait.

Fresh cafe au lait? Free French cuisine? Provocatively-dressed Parisian coquettes? And you didn't invite your good friend, Mr. Zillah Grey, (without whom no society event is ever complete)?

For shame, sir.

I'm glad that you consider me a good friend. If you wish, I'll pick you up some Cafe au lait the next time I'm there. Or mayhaps we could discuss our current ramblings over a cup soon?

It's really up to you.

I suddenly find myself with a good deal of free time -- and also that I have been neglecting my society friends from months ago. I've been thinking of visiting some places in Paris soon... the Opera perhaps. It would be good for business.

I had a blind date once. Unfortunately in addition to being blind he was also old and overweight. Gives good massages though.

Send Zatoichi my way. I've enough stress knots in my back to pummel a wildebeast to death, assuming you can wield them properly to perform said bludgeoning.
